This Japanese folding screen is based on the classical fusuma (sliding door) painting Plum Trees and Pheasants, attributed to Kan Sanraku (early 17th century). The original work is preserved at Tenkyu-in, Myshin-ji Temple in Kyoto and is known for its refined composition of plum blossoms, rocks, and birds arranged in a balanced and dynamic layout.
