This piece is an example of Rantai Shikki (), a traditional Japanese lacquerware technique characterized by a bamboo-woven core coated with lacquer. Unlike solid wooden lacquerware, Rantai Shikki combines the flexibility and lightness of bamboo craftsmanship with the refined appearance of Japanese lacquer finishing.

The basket features a distinctive openwork structure formed by bamboo ribs, giving it an airy yet structured silhouette.
