Description
ACADEMY 13422 1/72 German Tiger-I Ver. Early Tank
Model Kit
Production on the Tiger I began in 1941, appearing for the first time in battle at the North African front at the end of 1942. Henschel and Porsche worked together to develop a prototype that underwent evaluations in April of 1942. This prototype was heavily fortified with 100mm thick front armor and 80mm side armor. It was powered by a Maybach HL210P45 engine and boasted upwards of 650 horsepower. In August of 1942, production was well on its way. Other features including its air cleaner at the rear of the hull, the cylindrical commander’s cupola, smoker dischargers, and turret pistol port, made it quite distinct among other tanks, and it was built to tackle almost anything you could throw at it. As well as other modifications, in January of 1943, a loader’s periscope was added. Approximately 200 of these early versions were produced from 1942 to 1943. This kit faithfully recreates the German Tiger I Version Early, with three finishing options. When fully assembled, this 1/72 scale model measures 11.4cm long and 4cm tall.
